Now that the year is underway, I've been seriously cracking along at board studying and wedding planning. Truly the exams feel never ending once you're in medicine. The ray of light is only a couple years away and I shall be exam free forever!!
Anywho, I have a few lovely pieces to share with you. Just recently I've been testing out a Christmas gift from a lovely best friend. It's an iPhone case with pressed flowers inside. I must say, it's beautiful and I am planning on picking up a couple more.
Gorgeous! You can finder her pieces at FloralNeverland
Another thing that has made my week, and has just had me laughing silly, is Ricky Gervais' Golden Globes opening speech. If you haven't seen it, here it is for your viewing pleasure:
Since I've fallen down the pit hole of serious studying again, I just wanted to make it known that putting pen to paper is still one of the best ways to consolidate information into your memory.
I also wanted to give a shout-out to the infrequently recommended straw-alternative... NO STRAW. *gasp. I've tried the steel and copper alternatives, and I'm still not a fan. I feel like there's an odd aftertaste to your drink or smoothie. Also, using straws frequently = smoker's wrinkles (google it), and I ain't having any of those. Drink your fluids straight from the bottle or cup - the old fashion way!
I just finished reading The Nickle Boys by Colson Whitehead. I thought it was wonderful, and heartbreaking. I always get myself riled up when I read stories based on gross injustice and neglect from the past (and present). But... I appreciate how much it opens my eyes to the truth. For those of you who haven't heard of this novel, it's a fiction piece based on Florida's Dozier School for Boys. In 2009, Ben Montgomery and his team did a now well-recognized piece of investigative journalism based on this school (check out the articles here).
That's all I've got for this week. Enjoy!
Cheers,
Chantelle
