Ideas for Weekend Activities & Getaways

4 October 2012

"Weekends are a bit like rainbows; they look good from a distance but disappear when you get up close to them."
- John Shirley

Hello my beautiful people!

Today I'm going to share a few pictures taken during last weekend's apple-picking, corn-mazing, farm animal petting adventure, while bestowing some fun ideas for THIS long weekend's undertaking. You can Google your own city for the locations nearest you. Forward & Onward!

1. Do what I just did: Find a farm, and go apple-picking! Make a great driving playlist. Bring a camera. Have fun. Head home and make some pie! Yummmy!

2. Locate a sleepy town a few hours away. Pop into a bed & breakfast. Go brunching + antiquing the next day.

3. Find a bunch of dusty old bookstores. Spend the day reading. Bring some tea or coffee. Buy great hardcovers for your collection. Fantasize about your future library.

4. Book a last minute hotel. Eat at a fancy restaurant. See the city life from way up high on rooftop lounges. Sleep in. Room service for breakfast. Spend the rest of the day walking through the bustling streets, and frolicking in parks.

5. Check out a live performance or the latest art exhibit. Discuss it with your friends over wine & cheese. Eat macaroons.

6. Make it a girly "me-weekend". Hair. Mani & Pedi. Wax. Botox. Laser. Microdermabrasion. Or Glycolic acid peel. Have a girl's night out. OR Spend the next couple days recovering, depending on your treatment of choice. ^-^ Beauty is Pain.

7. Two words: Movie Marathon. Pick your favourites, or choose a set of unseens. Stock up on food. Blankies. Hot cocoa. Yoga mat - stretch between films, because sitting that long is tiring.

8. Locate all the photo booths in the city. Create a map that ensures fun areas to walk/drive through on your journey. Bring costumes. Be ridiculously silly.

9. Pick a bunch of super delicious, extravagant recipes. Wake up early and go to the farmer's market. Buy your fresh ingredients. Cook the whole day. Have a cooking buddy join you. Light some candles. Set a gorgeous table. Feed your closest friends. Have some great sangria. Laugh all night.

10. Be spontaneous. Catch a flight to visit the people you love, wherever they are!

Have a great long weekend everyone! I'm heading to Toronto for our Canadian Thanksgiving today. So excited to see my family again. {Happy dance}.

Cheers,
C
