How I Relax With a Busy Lifestyle

1 April 2017

Hi everyone!

I have a fun collaborative post today with Soap & Glory and BooHoo. I am super excited to tell you about all the ways I decompress during the hectic life of residency. I have used Soap & Glory products since undergrad (over 10 years now!), and I've always been a fan of their body butter and sugar scrub. So without further ado, here are a list of things that help me relax after 16-30 hour shifts!

1. Get as much sleep as possible. This has been proven time and time again to be one of the greatest health benefits around. I try to get in at least six hours every night, any less and I start feeling slow or end up getting sick. When possible I get 8 hours on my day off. I'm also a fan of cat naps. 😺

2. Long hot baths with a candle lit, and a movie or TV show playing (Sherlock is my fave forever). I like to use Philosophy's bubble bath. I've been using their Christmas marshmallow scent, and I'm going to be devastated when it runs out soon. I have just bought lavender and chamomile soaking salts to add to my routine. My favorite candle is Cactus Blossom from BBW. It's a sweet + citrus scent, and makes my apartment smell marvelous!

3. Full at-home facials. I have a large pile of products I use, which can be saved for another post. I love face masks - I'm currently using this Andalou fruit enzyme mask, and Elizabeth Arden's hydrating mask. I have delved into a few of the products from my BooHoo goodie bag, and I also really loved the Mango and Green Tea mask. My face was very smooth and plump afterwards. If only I could find a big tube of it instead of packets. I also used the cooling cucumber gel eye pads - magnifique!

4. A cup of tea and a new movie curled up on the couch with a furry blanket. I love action movies, particularly action-comedies which are incredibly difficult to find decent ones. My next favorite is thrillers! I also collect 'beautiful' movies because they make my eyeballs happy - you know what I mean. Black Swan, Frida, Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge, Breakfast at Tiffany's, etc. Just visual splendors! I've linked the trailers so you can peak. I can't wait to get the Beauty and the Beast on DVD, it was so stunning! 😱

5. Planning my next vacation! I am so excited to go to San Francisco in a few days. It has been on my bucket list for ages! This bright blue bikini from BooHoo is an XS and fits perfect for fellow skinny-minis out there. I love that it looks like Hervé Léger's bandage dresses, and the color is gorgeous.

6. If you're lucky enough to have your loved ones nearby, they are some of the best stress relievers ever. I've had my boyfriend over for the past few days, and doing activities after work is such a nice distraction. If you live far from home then I suggest calling your fam and friends. My parents are my go-to daily; they hear all my anxieties, successes, and hardships. I don't know what I'd do without them!

What do you do to relax during busy or stressful weeks? I'd love to add onto my list.

Cheers,
Chantelle
