Winter Surprises

Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas (if you celebrate), and your holiday festivities are full of excitement, friends and family! It has been great being home and seeing all my loved ones. It's my last full winter break before residency starts, and by then I will only have a few days off to spread over the year. Hugging everyone extra tight this month!

Below are a couple shots of a Boohoo product I was sent to review (suede jacket) from their 70's collection. Winter has been pleasantly warm this year, and I was able to throw it over a cropped turtle neck and some high waisted jeans for brunch. The Boy and I discovered a new weekend brunch spot (Jasper's Cafe) in the suburbs, and I'm totally addicted to their breakfast skillets. I've gone back a few times already (jalapeno skillet + chorizo with poached eggs is my fave) and will probably be one of their new regulars!

I hope all of you have a Happy New Year, and see you on the other side! Now I'm off to binge of movies, paint my nails crazy colors (I've been so tame with interviews), and eat as much Portuguese food as possible!

Cheers,
Chantelle

My Hair Care Routine ft Diamond Flat Iron

Hi everyone,
Great to be back on the blog! It has been a wild fourth year so far, and I've done tons of travelling for interviews. One of the constant companions I bring with me is a super lightweight hair straightener that was sent to me from Irresistible Me*. I use it the evening before the interview dinner, and then re-wash my hair and repeat in the morning for the real interview. The straightener heats to 460˚F in seconds, it's insane. The site claims it takes 15 seconds to reach maximum heat, and I can attest to that. I wouldn't be surprised if it's even faster. Since I have thin hair and very little of it, I can do my full head in 8-10 mins. I started avoiding my roots to help retain volume and make it look less flat (the downside of losing half your volume once starting medschool). My hair becomes wonderfully shiny after straightening, so I don't even use any gloss or pomades. I've yet to burn my fingers, or get tangled in the cord, so everything has be well designed. The straightener rarely leaves my carry-on luggage, which means I've used it a minimum of 15 times before writing this post. But as you all know, that's my motto with most products I get sent (put everything through extreme testing!). I really recommend this beauty, and it would be a great gift for a friend or yourself this Christmas. You can find more details on its features here, and also read about their tourmaline and diamond particle ceramic plates on the website. Yes, I said diamonds.

For all the products I use on a weekly basis please see the links below:
Nioxin for thinning hair - shampoo
Mon Platin black caviar - hair mask
Gold bobby pins
John Frieda creme (for days my hair is natural)
hair ties
Dauphines of New York - Barrette
(any shiny/bow hair accessories will do)
Clairol Shimmer Lights Purple - shampoo

What are all of your favorite hair care items?

Cheers,
Chantelle
