Monday Marvels: Links For The Week

Hey everybody, here's some knowledge to start off your work week. Enjoy!

  • Ask Dr. K: "Do cleanses and detox diets work?" [We learn about the detoxifying function of the liver, even back in high school, so I never figured these fads would do anything. This is an interesting read if you want to know more about why cleanses are not as efficient as eating some broccoli.]
  • Beyonce's performance at the SuperBowl. Bam!
  • How to get long feathery lashes by gossmakeupartist (a longtime favourite of mine)
  • D&G Flared Cat Eye Sunglasses These are in white lettering, and I think they're so quirky compared to the classic black cat eye shades. You can find them at redhotsunglasses, and the black ones at neiman marcus or amazon
  • Why taking ADHD medication (ie/ Adderall) is dangerous when you don't actually suffer from the disorder. This article emphasizes the longterm side-effects of using "study drugs", and how prevalent they have become in college & post-graduate groups. Very frightening. NYTimes - Drowned in a stream of Prescriptions
  • The Healthiest Cooking Methods - Times.
  • Vogue Mum extract: "If she's hungry she can eat salad." - I felt the title of this post was deceiving, and gave the impression this woman was starving her daughter for fashion's sake. Weiss put her child on a diet, because the child was overweight (maybe even obese), and it was necessary for her health. I wish more parents were this strict once pediatricians/family doctors recommend a low calorie diet. Obesity is a huge medical dilemma in the USA, and it is the cause of heavy healthcare expenditures as it leads to cardiac disease & heart attacks + strokes (the leading causes of death according to the CDC).

  • Cheers,

    12. When I originally left a comment I seem to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I receive 4
emails with the same comment. Is there a way you can remove me from that service?
