Apartment Inspiration: Interior Decor Haven

on
Wednesday, June 27, 2012
Hey everyone!

I've been searching the net, and my mother's interior decor magazines for some apartment "sprucing" inspiration. The new Canadian Style at Home for July 2012 just arrived, and it is chock-full of white interiors (aka. Chantelle Heaven). Unfortunately I can't find a scan of the editorials I've enjoyed. Below are a few images that I am keen on leeching ideas from, courtesy of Bright Bazaar [I've spent a couple hours on it today].

Photos from my (second) post-secondary graduation - Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences. Shazammm!
I couldn't have done it without these two people: mum & dad. Honestly, they help me in every single way possible, be it mentally, emotionally, financially, and every other "-ally" in the book. Thanks you two. <3

She's hilarious.

I've been trying to find a summer purse that I can invest in, and use for half the year, that won't break my shoulder. Designer bags are so well made, and the hardware is gorgeous and sturdy, but damn are they heavy & I hate that. Also, I prefer smaller purses since I only carry a wallet, phone, keys, and Chapstick. I was hoping some of you could throw me suggestions before I make a silly purchase (although I'm not known for doing that, regardless). Below are a few I've had my eye on this week...

Marc by Marc Jacobs - Intergalocktic Leather Cosmos Bag // Theyskens' Theory - Vala Messenger Bag // Marc by Marc Jacobs - Classic Q Pixie Handle Bag
3.1 Phillip Lim- Pashil Messenger // Cambridge Satchel // Lauren Merkin - Iris Polished Lizard Bag
Tory Burch - Robinson Bag // Alexander Wang - Brenda Chain Purse // Rachel Zoe - Kate Tote

I love all of them, but I'm pulling towards the Theyskens' and A.Wang Brenda. I'd like the Brenda or the Mini Rocco in a light grey, but I haven't found them anywhere.

Anywho, I'm off to buy my bridesmaid shoes for my cousin's wedding (hopefully I will be lucky!)- I'm so excited for July 14th. Eeeeek! Have a magnificent weekend, everyone. :D

My Spring/Summer Beauty Favourites

on

Comfiest warm weather outfit I could find. Cheers to being back home in Toronto!

As promised, here's a skincare & make-up post covering some of my favourites.

1. Nuyu microdermabrasion + Origins Charcoal Mask
I use these two products together, and I swear it's an instant miracle worker. Nuyu feels like wet sand, and it needs to be rubbed into the skin for 1 minute. The clay mask is black, and it sucks everything out of your pores. When I'm having a bad skin day, I use these together and in one hour most of my blackheads are cleaned out; by the following morning, a lot of my blemishes have dried up. I'm suppose to follow a "2x/week" schedule with this, but I'm forgetful. If I stuck with regularity, my skin would be even better. These two products are magic for my face.

2. Anastasia Lipgloss
These colorful lip-glosses were in a package sent to me by Anastasia. OH-EM-GEE. Absolutely adore them. I dislike lipstick for everyday use; only on special nights do I wear it. However, I love the pop of color it can give when following the bright lips trend for the season. This ended up being the best of both worlds. The color strength of a lipstick, with the smooth consistently of lipgloss that wasn't overly sticky and yucky. I legitimately recommend buying one, or testing it out during your next Sephora visit. AMAZING. I've worn them 1-2 times a week since they arrived, and this is a big step for me because I always have a natural lip courtesy of chapstick.

3. Vaseline Shea Butter
I slather this on after shaving to avoid those nasty red bump and spots. Copious amounts recommended. I usually do it at night before bed, and wear PJ pants to help my legs suck up all the moisture. I swear it works.

4. Baby Wipes [any brand]
Purpose: everything! Removing make-up when I'm super-tired, wiping my feet when I've spent a day in flip flops/sandals in the city, even to cool down on a hot day I like pressing them onto my arms and neck. I love baby wipes, and I always have back-up packs.

5. Revlon ColorStay eyeliner - Black
I basically bought this on a whim at the grocery store when I ran out of my black pencil liner, and have repurchased ever since. It doesn't smudge as much as the last ones I've used, and it's tiny enough to go in between lashes. I also like doing a wing-tip with this pencil since it stays! Yay!

Helloooo Medical School...

on
Tuesday, June 12, 2012
I keep postponing my academic news: I'm gonna be a doctor! For those of you who have been following me for the past four years, you will have known that getting into medical school was one of my ultimate goals. Thankfully it has happened. If anyone wants to e-mail me to ask questions, and seek some support, I'm all ears.  I will probably add an extra link on the sidebar for medicine/medical school, because I've only come across two other med + fashion bloggers in the last 5-7 years. It would be great to find other like-minded souls.

Anywho, below are a few images that were sitting in my folders, waiting to see the light of day/internet. I'll pop in my Masters graduation pictures soon as well. Have a lovely day, CC.

As promised, more Cali pics. I absolutely adored Santa Monica & Venice Beach, and could totally see myself living there for a few years. Below are pictures of our third day in Los Angeles: Rodeo Drive, Melrose, and more!

We had to do it. We had to.
..future casa? I hope so.

Isn't K adorable? Eeek <3
Of course we went to check out Urth Caffé. Celebrities spotted: Zero. Deliciousness? 100%.

I was very much camera-free while in Cali, because I dislike lugging it around while I explore. Sometimes I feel I spend more time behind the lens than I do milking the visuals, and imprinting some memories. It's also why I stopped taking cameras to concerts; not enough enjoyment on my end. Anywho, this concludes my vacation photos. Obviously there were hundreds taken, but summary posts are less overwhelming. I shall be back soon with some new posts, and exciting news from my petite vie! Hope your week has gotten off to a marvellous start!

And now some images from our time in Los Angeles, California. These are mostly Santa Monica & Venice Beach. My two favourite places from my trip to La La Land.

I'm rarely in my photos because I'm behind the camera! Hope you enjoyed my tidbits. More Cali tomorrow. :D

"In a city of illusion, where change is what the city does, it's no wonder Las Vegas is the court of last resort, the last place to start over, to reinvent yourself in the same way that the city does, time after time. For some it works; for some it doesn't, but they keep coming and trying." - Hal Rothman

Heya everyone!

I've been bedridden since arriving in Toronto due to a nasty stomach virus. Not pretty. But I finally uploaded photos onto my flickr account, so I can share Vegas with ya today! Wooohooo!

This designer block reminded me of the ROM in Toronto. I haven't looked it up, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were designed by the same architect, or inspired by each other.

We stayed at the MGM Grand while in Vegas. Unfortunately it was under construction so we never got to see the lion conservation or Studio 54.

I can't remember which pool this was from, but I did spend a few hours lounging around the "lazy river" at the MGM, and I LOVED IT. Also, we caught Sky Blue from LMFAO at Wet Republic Day Club, and I really enjoyed it as well. Just a word to the wise; wear a lot of sunscreen, and drink lots of water. Also, take a nap after heading home. We were there from 11 am -3 pm, and ended up being super burned and very tired, which required a semi-quiet, easy night at a pretty lounge in our hotel. If any of you go to Vegas, I suggest staying at the MGM Grand or deciding to spend an entire day there enjoying the amenities.

I love E's bracelet. Gorgeous!

Day & Night: I was so glad to take my tutu out for another spin. I love wearing that dress, but I never know what occasion merits it. Perhaps it will be its last round on the blog.

Overall, I enjoyed the couple days I had in Vegas, but it's not something I'd repeat frequently. I prefer exploring locales, learning, and meeting interesting people; I can find this more easily in European cities, or some large North American cities. My family has spoiled me with great vacations! I'm glad I went though; one destination scratched off my bucket list! :D

Cheers,
CC
