Last Wednesday I had the privilege of being invited to a CK Beauty press conference and cocktail party. Guests received amazing gift bags the day before, which included the bottle you see below and a solid perfume purse charm (why didn't I think of the latter? Genius inventions!).

Below are the people responsible for Calvin Klein's new fragrance. The ladies on the left had the cutest french accents in the world. The brunette was in charge of creating Beauty's scent. (Sorry I don't have names.. I can only remember Sophie, and I forget which one she is!)

Below is one of the art pieces on display - a local photographer's rendition of the calla lily.

One of the best DJ's to pump UP an event. Someone who can mix old school and new school is a man after me own heart! Check him out here: DJ TRIPLE J

Marta & I! I'm so glad I was able to catch up with her before H came. Other bloggers are great companions!

Et c'est tout! I'll be back with some sporadic posts later in a few days. =D

Hey everyone,

I know this review is super late (read: 2 days)..but here are my 2 cents on Cougar's new design.
I was sent a couple pairs of boots from Cougar's new collection to test in various weather conditions. Below are the the rain boots, designed in a motorcycle style - a great idea in my humble opinion. I find the problem with typical rain boots is that they're so obviously..rain boots. I mean, I love Hunter Wellingtons..but when someone's wearing them on a sunny day or during a snow storm, I think they look a bit silly- same goes for students wearing Uggs in torrential/severe rainstorms. [Ah well, to each his own]. My problem with these boots, however, lies in the fact that their "leg opening" is too large for my skinny little calves, and the front portion is actually quite bulky ..meaning it's not proportionate to my actual foot size. I thought maybe I should have asked for a size down, but the boots actually fit quite well with a pair of thick socks. I've seen them on girls that aren't disturbingly underweight and the boots look good. So..if you're normal, I highly recommend them; they have soft lining (something my regular rain boots lack), and they're designed to keep your feet warm in below freezing temperatures.

The buckle is pretty bad ass. Goddammit! Gain weight, Chantelle! Maybe I'll get one of my friends to try them on, or my mother, just so ya'll can see how they look like on a human.

The following are the second pair of boots sent to me: I call them my winter snuggly awesomeness booties. In retrospect, I should have avoided white since I'm a walking disaster in light colours... but they were my FAVOURITE ones. I actually adore them in white, because the fur is tinged grey (like a wolf, hehe), and the detailing is also more pronounced in light shades. They're designed to keep you warm until -30˚C. These babies might not leave my feet once Toronto begins to see its fair share of snow. I actually chose these boots because they reminded me a bit of MoonBoots...which I can't wear due to twig-leg syndrome.

Yes.. I'm in my pyjamas!
[I was too lazy to change clothes, and I really wanted to get this review up.]

If I'm wearing these in public, then it's cold enough that showing skin on my legs would land me in a crazy house. No.. I do not do the bare leg thing in the winter. However, I'd wear these with tights, and chunky grey/taupe/black socks peeking over the top.
Yes, I still wear skirts in the winter! I'm actually interested in expanding my winter shorts collection.
Go broke me!

Anyway, that's it for now. I'll have the CK Beauty launch photos up soon! It was great fun, and I was very impressed with the venue, and the music (and the wine)! Toodles!

Hola señoritas (& dudes)!

Nothing special to report. I haven't been blogging ... because nothing has caught my attention as of late. Also, I've been testing out whether or not I could survive without human contact; mission accomplished. The hermit life = my life's calling. Below is the Marie Claire UK issue I'm in love with- their article covering rapes of young girls in Congo by travelling soldiers is gut-wrenching. Sometimes, the more you read the more disappointed you become with the state of the world. [I was talking about this with my father today.] Oh, I also have my super-awesome studded gloves below. Total man-repellers, I've gotten a few male disapproving comments & looks. I love them. Sometimes I just sit at my study and smell the leather. New Sharpie?

Check out the Snooki pout below. #lolfest. Anyway, I really need a remote control to take photographs of myself; self-timer mechanisms just don't focus well. Note two things: the YSL lipstick (I mentioned a few posts ago) is a cotton-candy light pink, and I got a chandelier for my room (I particularly adore the pattern it throws on my ceiling).

Side braids & long patterned scarves have been my latest go-to's for stressful school days.

I haven't posted a Youtube video in a while, so I thought I'd share Nat's latest creation. I've been her subscriber since I discovered Youtube... so almost 4 years! Yes, I'm that loyal.

[*Ughh... I've only had 3 hours of sleep and my body is starting to shake. Yuk! :( Get your sleep, kids!]

Hi bellas,

Here's just some of my winter fashion inspiration. It's honestly quite difficult to look stylish when all you're thinking about is a] where's the closest heated building? b] why can't I feel me toes? and c] why does everyone look so moody? Haha, oh winter, you've made me so bitter the last couple years. I think I was born in the wrong hemisphere.. I'd be a summer baby if I were living in Australia. Mmmm...summer. *cue fantasy music*

[Perfect midterm/exam uniform. It's one piece, thick, and super-comfy.]

An eclectic coat that's completely impractical, but... it's got a hood. Makes up for everything.

Dudes,

Why must the hair on one's head look über-wicked on days/nights that require bumming around at home? Merde.

This look is actually quite easy (if you have very little hair like moi)- I just curled my luscious locks (read: color-damaged & dry) before I went to bed, slept on it, then swiped a bit of Moroccan Oil through the ends in the morning. That shirt is also one of my favourite garments in the existence of my petite vie; everyone should pick up a super-soft, off the shoulder, loose, long-sleeve shirt (Holy mother of Adjectives!). I wore it all summer (on chilly days and crisp evenings), and will continue to do so through the winter. I think Aritzia continues to stock them in different shades. They're not all striped, in case horizontal lines fill some of your tender hearts with fear, the fall versions are just solid colours. ^-^

En avance... next favourite thing(s): Nivea HydroCare chap stick, because I'm pretty sure it has crack in it. Add the fact that it smells like clean babies and spring mornings, and I've got a keeper. Next: YSL Rouge Volupté SPF 15 lipstick- it goes on like melted butter, and makes you want to smile. I got mine in #7- Pink Lingerie. It makes me feel like a fairy barbie. *le sigh* The only downside is the price, ~ $40 limits the amount of YSL lip-heaven you want to buy in one go. But so worth it. Et plus, "Eat, Pray, Love" in French; I've only read a couple pages but I know I'm going to enjoy it. Lastly, cute notebooks (I have one from Antioch) with pretty page designs; it makes doing chemistry calculations 3.658 times more enjoyable.

*I couldn't find my sweater online, but whilst I browsed the Aritzia catalogue, I came across a pretty kick-ass varsity sweater. Oh and the YSL lipstick shown is NOT the pale/dusty nude pink of #7, I just had to show the casing. Superb quality.*

PS. Have you guys seen the Lanvin for H&M Preview? *cries in corner* Elbaz has outdone himself. His interview in Marie Claire UK October 2010 made every woman who read the excerpt... fall in love with him. A man after me own heart.

Chantelle
