+ This girls is so gorgeous.. My eyes even sting a bit when I stare for too long.
+ I collected a tonne of quotes that were formatted nicely by chelseanico on flickr
They will be accompanying many of the photos in posts to come.

I'm writing essays and studying for exams so my blogging may be a tad erratic.

postpone it..

Friday, November 27, 2009
Yes, I just got one of my final essays postponed!
Which means I have a tad more time (not really) on my hands,
so I was on NYTIMES.. and I fell in love with the colours of this editorial.

things i'm loving atm
+ The Pandora's Box app on iPhone [why didn't anyone tell me about this before!?]
+ Baby pink matte lips.. not the tacky pink, the cool shade. [I heard I can get it at MAC or Sephora, does anyone know the name?]
+ My team's standing ovation at Saturday's competition
+ stylediet on youtube [she is so pretty *sigh]
+ Mondrian..again [those incomplete black lines just get me all the time.]
+ "Light a Candle" Nicole by OPI [it looks like liquid metal on my nails. Amazing! I'll get a pic if I remember.]
+ The Obliphica in my new mud shampoo.. it smells so lovely
+ My groomed eyebrows..finally
+ Navy blue liner on brown eyes, try it. It's a neat way to bring out your brown.
+ Peanut butter on crackers.. or eaten with a spoon.
+ Closet organization pictures on the IKEA site.. I totally want to revamp my closets now.
+ Maimonides

Anyway, that is it. I'll catch y'all later. :)

I really adore the styling of this photo shoot.
Perhaps it's the half-hazard layering that's getting to me,
but whatever it is.. i like it. :)

*Sorry for the lack of posts on here and esper's blog. It's that time of year
where students get bombarded by final essays and exams. Boooo....

From Russia, with love.

Wednesday, November 04, 2009
I'm sure many of you know of Natalia Vodianova's
poverty-stricken life back in Russia (before she moved to Paris to model).
If not, here's a brief biography.
I really do love hearing stories like these, because they make me realize how lucky I am,
AND that hard work pays off in the end. Her life is so much more inspiring than the modeling careers of rock star progeny.
[no offense]
Anyway, I was using Natalia's story to lead into a volunteering/intership project I came across a few days ago. If any of you are interested in giving up a month or two of your summer to spend with Russian orphans, MiraMed has an amazing program! I was thinking about volunteering through MiraMed for a month, after I graduate. *crosses fingers*
Please feel free to browse the site and look for other ways
you can contribute to helping Russian children and youth.

The Uniform Project

Sunday, November 01, 2009
I stumbled across this site during the summer, and thought it would be a wonderful discovery to share with you all. Here's an introduction to the project by Sheena:

The Idea

Starting May 2009, I have pledged to wear one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion. Here’s how it works: There are 7 identical dresses, one for each day of the week. Every day I will reinvent the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accouterments, the majority of which will be vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies. Think of it as wearing a daily uniform with enough creative license to make it look like I just crawled out of the Marquis de Sade's boudoir.
The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in Indian slums.

Best female Grinch I've seen!
I find every inch of this project inspiring, from the issues of sustainable living present in the developed world, to the difficulties faced by young girls (who are attempting to get an education) in the developing world. Where there is a will there is way. So far she has raised $ 27, 525! Sheena is on day 185/ 365 as of Nov 1st. The photos posted above are a few I picked from OCTOBER ONLY! The things this girl can do with one dress! Amazing!

*side note: See the importance of having sturdy basic pieces, and an imagination? I think she looks better than 80% of the people I've met who slather themselves in labels.
PLEASE check out The Uniform Project,
and if you're feeling particularly generous, donate [accessories, or for the cause].
