A few of my favourite images from this weekend: wicked bookshelf, and my favourite street style by a french blogger --> miss pandora. I think she looks so wonderful. The boots, the clutch, how her shirt dress is flowing... *sigh

Isn't he cute? I named him Simon. He lives on my finger.
A replacement for Chipie, the french chien that used to live on my finger.
(Had a run in with my crazy hair chemicals.. God rest his little soul.)

Anywho, NYE is around the corner. [Excited face]
What are y'all doing?!

PS. I re-activated my twitter account!I had it for a total of 4 hours when I signed up the first time. Check the sidebar and add me if you'd like =D

Presents I have received, or bought for myself, that make me content at the moment:
Influence by MKA (b-day present from B) & Coach Brooke bag (Xmas present from S, my cousin)
A trip to Aritzia on boxing day- the sheer grey Wilfred top is something I've been hunting down since summer. Super glad I have it. (Not gifts, I bought these)
My first visit to Anthropologie, got myself two pieces. It was very difficult to take a photograph of the black tunic. Pity, it's so lovely. (Another BD purchase, this time from ma mere)

[+] Anthropologie reminds me of a delicate and feminine Urban Outfitters, but with more expensive items. I'd really love a duvet from there.
[+] Boxing day is fantastic if you're going to places that don't pack to the max aka malls. I ended up going to Don Mills and it was so lovely, and pretty quiet.
[+] I still really want a Nikon D3000, but they are sold out at Futureshop & Bestbuy. However, I saw the floor model at Futureshop today and the lens length really turned me off. I don't fancy carrying around a big DSLR camera. It's so inconvenient, especially for someone as small as I. I'm most likely going to settle for a really good digital camera with special DSLR functions. Any suggestions? I've been looking into these:
[+] I got 'A Year in Fashion' as one of the surprise gifts from my family. It is so gorgeous. I like plopping the book open on..say today's date... and seeing the lovely picture they have. Very inspirational.
[+] I was going to take a photo of all the stuff I got.. but that feels so weird. I need to stop watching youtube X-mas Hauls from make-up gurus. They make me do odd shit.
[+] I got a parka for winter.. because it's EFFIN' cold in Canada. Well.. sometimes. It was lovely today. I wish we had snow on Xmas day this year. The rain washed it away. Anyway, I took a picture of myself in it. It turned out... silly. I will not post it on my blog but check it out here if you want- it's hilarious I know, but it keeps me warm (note: the parka is bigger than me). This picture is for my true readers, those of you who actually pay attention to what I write and not just the pretty pictures I post. *-*
[+] I got the special feature HP 6 DVD!! Big deal for me - Tom Felton is on the cover. <3

I'll catch you lasses later,

I want to be you.. for a day.

I think this is such a gorgeous dress. I would love to know how many hours went into this piece. I also adore the pink tinge to the photograph. Lovely.

Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow by Mondria
Its been a while since I wrote something beneficial/good on my blog. If there is anything recent that is worth mentioning I usually post it on esper, while I keep this blog for photography, quotes, street style, and my random articles. Today will be focused on the latter. I really enjoyed researching for the Jackson Pollock piece I wrote about last summer, so I thought, 'Hey, lets do Mondrian today, Chantelle!'.

Mondrian is a famous abstract artist that belonged to the De Stijl art movement. He is responsible for the creation of Neo-Plasticism, a non-representational art form that marked its presence in 1917 in the Netherlands. As Mondrian wrote in his essay 'Neo-plasticism in Pictorial art', "... this new plastic idea will ignore the particulars of appearance, that is to say, natural form and colour. On the contrary, it should find its expression in the abstraction of form and colour, that is to say, in the straight line and the clearly defined primary colour." The most beautiful element in the works of the De Stijl artists is the sense of harmony they conveyed on canvas. In this semester's art history course, I was taught that Mondrian became obsessed with attaining this peaceful balance between the vertical and the horizontal, because it was his representation of what needed to be done in the midst of WWI. Mondrian used art to promote a harmonious resolution between the many conflicting sides to the War.
I have decided to look into the many collections that were inspired by Mondrian's simple design and colour palette.
Pierrot Fall 2003
Loewe Fall 2000
Donna Karan Spring 2006
Elie Saab Fall 2008

And of course.... the infamous
Mondrian Shift by YSL 1965

Fascinating... Perhaps next time I will post on another topic I covered in class this year:
Cubism in Fashion Design.

I've only been to Paris, that's 1/4. I have to get crack-a-lackin!

Just finished my last exam for the semester..
And... my 21st birthday is tomorrow!

I'm super excited to get back to regular blogging for a while.
I have a folder set up for my Mondrian post, which should
be up in a couple days. =D

I adore that sweater-scarf combo MK is working.
Does anyone know where I can buy a similar long cardigan?
I really like the length and colour oh so much.

+ Chanel guillotine
+ Helmut Lang eau de parfum
+ Alexander Wang's studio

Every time I look at that guillotine I think to myself, "Now why in the world was that made?" Does anybody know what the purpose of this prop was? Was it done on a whim? Je veux savoir! *sigh*
The French and their pride. ^-^

I'm still healthy.. Serious.

I was just on Kenza's blog last night, and I realized how much
I missed Europe in the winter. What a lucky lass to be living in Parrris.
With kick ass clothes.
And a wicked job.
+ yes this bed is pretty cool and comfy-looking.. but I chose this for the
anatomy sketched out on the chalk board in the background!

"How to be badass" tip #1: Don't wash or comb hair- that's only for pansies.
